Sometimes it’s more convenient to have all or most of your emails coming through one account. Or, if you have a business, you might want to have a business email address, like sue@mybusiness.com (your domain name email account), go to your email account at hotmail, outlook, or gmail, so it’s easy to get them all in one place.
It’s fairly easy to set up a POP3 account so that your business email goes to your hotmail or gmail account, and is removed from the server, so the server doesn’t fill up with emails. See the difference between POP3 and IMAP here.
To set up a business email at Hotmail or Outlook (Hotmail is actually a part of Outlook now), where you can receive and send under your domain name, How-to Geek has a good tutorial. You can read it here. How to Add Any POP3 Email Account to Hotmail. And here’s a good resource for adding POP3 to Outlook: POP Email Accounts in Windows Live Hotmail
You can import all the emails from your webserver into your Gmail account by following the steps shown here on Doteasy.
If you have questions about how to set up your email account for your website email, do a search for “how to set add a POP3 email account to…” and the name of your email program preference (ie hotmail, outlook, gmail, etc.).
