Yes, there are benefits to using a blog and Facebook
We have talked about search engine rankings before: the ever-changing unicorn that everyone is seeking. Although it may seem like a mystical thing, in reality, it is about how dedicated you are to your website and/or business.
Perhaps you don’t understand how it all works; you can read more about SEO here. Search engines crawl your site at various intervals; you can “invite” them to come check out your site every x amount of days. They come looking for new, fresh content. One of the best ways to provide this is to have a blog.
You should post to a blog at least once a month with 500 words recommended as the ideal. It should also contain at least one image. If you don’t have time to write an article of your own, you can hire someone to do it; either as a guest writer or a ghost writer. You can also write out several articles and arrange for them to post once a month. (We do offer this service if you are interested.) This can take the worry out of making sure you are getting your fresh content out there.
However, you shouldn’t write your content for the search engines. You should be writing your articles focusing on what you want to share with your customer base and clientele. Use wording that is relevant to your area of expertise. Not only does writing help to inform your customers, it also helps to establish you as an expert. When people read your articles, they know they can turn to you with questions and they will know they will get understandable and quality answers. They will also return to your site and want to use your services. Everyone likes to deal with an expert in their field. No matter what your industry, having a way to communicate with your customers, followers or fans, is a great way to continually build on those relationships. Whether you are sharing an event, information about a new product or a recipe, consistency is key.
Not only that, but you can post to your blog or from your blog using Facebook. Facebook, while used by family and friends, has also established itself for allowing those same people to share their likes or dislikes with others. It can be used as a consumer networking resource. Say you post an event on your page, then someone can share that they are interested in that event. It goes to their timeline, where their friends and family can see it. People who might not have been exposed to your business previously, suddenly become informed. They may be interested in joining others to go to those events or get more information on products.
It becomes a win/win situation when you use both forms of communication hand-in-hand. If you post to Facebook, you can pull that information into your website; giving fresh content to the search engines.
1.) Blogging is becoming more and more relevant, used as both a communication and educational tool. It helps to keep you in touch with your customers, fans and/or followers. Having an established time when you are posting, builds consistency, both for your clients and for the search engines.
2.) You can connect your blog to your social media accounts, allowing your posts to be shared in various formats and to a wide range of individuals.
3.) You can allow your content to be pulled in from your social media accounts, so it is all located on your site.
4.) Facebook allows you to either post from your blog onto your timeline or you can pull in your timeline to your blog. This allows you to further connect with your followers, and they, in turn, can become a networking tool to reach out to others on your behalf.
5.) You should post at least once a month. You can write several articles at one time, then schedule them to post once a month. Or, you can write an article once a month. This allows you to do it according to what works best for you.
